Dmitry Matvienko Conducts the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra’s 721st Regular Concert
July 10, 2024
The Belarusian up-and-coming conductor Dmitry Matvienko made his debut (first visit to Japan) at the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra Regular Concert. He won first place at the 2021 Marco International Conducting Competition and has already conducted many orchestras, but he is still relatively unknown in Japan. The program included Ravel’s “Morning Song of the Clown,” the suite “Ma Mère l’Oye,” and Stravinsky’s “Petrushka” (1947 version). The content shows his inclination toward narrative music.
